Setting Up a Welcome Campaign

Here we’ll walk through creating a simple buyer-intent welcome campaign to be seen by all visitors to your website.

We’ll start on the Workflows dashboard. As you can see the campaign workflow has three parts or nodes. First we’ll define a trigger. For this campaign we’ll use the default trigger Any Visit, which means every visitor who consents to cookies on your site will see this campaign as long as they’re not excluded by the automatic blind testing.

When a visitor lands on your site you want to help them get the information they need to make a decision about whether or not to make a purchase that day as efficiently as possible. In this campaign we'll ask a simple question: What are you looking for today? Our goal is to identify the buyer's INTENT. Are they here to make a purchase or are they here to find out more about what you sell?

Next you’ll identify your target audience segment. For now, all campaigns will target the All Visitors audience segment. Now let’s create our campaign communications. Click in the campaign node and select Add Campaign, then Create New Campaign.

Let’s name this one “Welcome”, then save. As you can see you’ll be able to define other segments and triggers for campaigns, but we’ll stick with Any Visit and All Visitors for now. Click save.

Now we’re in the Campaign Builder. Campaigns have dynamic sequences composed of pop up and notification communications which you can separate with timers. Campaigns can also have Static on-page sections which will appear where you’ve added them while a visitor is seeing your campaign. Page sections or Website Blocks that are part of a campaign are always visible - they can’t be closed or controlled with timers like pop-ups and notifications.

Save and rename your pop up. Disable it before continuing. You can turn it on when your campaign is ready. As you can see here, each communication will display stats detailing how many times the communication was viewed or clicked, if anyone who saw it placed an order and the value of that order. Use these details to see which notifications perform best.

Visitors who click the "I'm just browsing" button will be taken to the page of your choice, I recommend a collection of your best sellers.

Adding a new Page Trigger for that collection that will display new communications after your visitor clicks. Product reviews are a great way to convince hesitant shoppers to commit. After a short delay you could offer a limited-time coupon.

Visitors who click "Show Me Your Best Deals" will be taken to your collection of products on sale. This collection title can also trigger a new campaign.

Identifying your buyer intent from the start will keep them happy because they're saving time shopping on a site that takes them right to what they want!

Inspired? Set up another campaign for the target pages of your Welcome campaign.

If you remove the notification and timer blocks this campaign has only one pop-up. Landing on the next page will trigger the campaign for that URL.
